Smita is currently Construction Claims Consultant at Capital Project Management, Inc. (CPMI) in New York City. Smita has 9+ years' of experience in construction and project management, contract administration, vendor management, and design coordination. She is knowledgeable in the areas of CPM scheduling of construction projects, optimization of construction resources, delay analysis, cost analysis, claims analysis, contract negotiations, analysis and preparation of delay, damages, and disruption claims. Smita initiated and implemented BIM and new project delivery methods for a construction contractor, such as, lean construction technologies, Last Planner System, Visual Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time Delivery, and Partnership concepts. She also employed the use of drones for progress monitoring. In total, she has worked on over 20 projects with a construction cost of over $600 million. Smita has presented papers on productivity improvements, skill enhancement, cost optimization, and lean construction methods at international conferences. She has educated students, supervisors and skilled workers on various topics and techniques. Smita also developed a crew of 50 “Lean Champions” to create a healthy working environment in the construction industry. Smita graduated from Columbia University with M.S. in Civil Engineering. Smita represented the engineering school as a Delegate on the Interschool Governing Board.
