Wendy Wan, RA, CFM
Wendy Wan, Registered Architect and Certified Floodplain Manager, is the Borough Commissioner for Central Development Programs at the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB). Wendy oversees development initiatives, ensures compliance with building regulations, and drives strategic planning for sustainable urban development.
A veteran administrator, Wendy previously worked in DOB’s Technical Affairs bureau, providing expertise on NYC Construction Codes, Zoning Resolution, and local laws. She has experience advising on development in flood hazard areas, contributing to NYC Construction Codes revision committees, and working on initiatives like the East New York Basement Apartment Pilot Program and drone use in façade inspections.
Before joining DOB, she was a project director at the Office of Sustainable Design for the NYC Department of Design and Construction, where she managed sustainability goals in capital projects.
Wendy holds a Master of Science in architectural studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University.
