Wahid is a Vice President and Surface Transportation Market Sector Lead in the Transportation group at AECOM Metro New York. In this capacity, he focuses on advancing business growth as well as project development and execution. Wahid also serves as the Metro’s Structural Department Manager, mentoring engineering professionals and providing insight into innovative design and streamlined Design-Build project delivery while also supporting the national highway and bridge markets. Before joining AECOM, he served as Chief Engineer of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) where he oversaw more than $6.1B in annual design and construction projects, including bridges, roadways, airports, and train stations as well as the maintenance and operation of more than 38,000 lane miles of highway and also ensured the safety of more than 17,450 bridges. Wahid previously served in a number of leadership roles during his more than 30 years at NYSDOT, including as Director of the Structures Design Bureau. In 2020, he received the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York’s Chairman’s Award for outstanding leadership, creativity, and vision related to New York’s engineering community.
