Val Tzvetkov
Val Tzvetkov is the Director of VDC and Emerging Technology, overseeing the construction and emerging technology department for Skanska Metro New York's $800M -$1.2B yearly construction project portfolio. Val’s responsibilities include implementation of a project-specific digital strategy, strong digital platform standards and adoption of disruptive technology to improve Skanska’s core business. One of his biggest passions is developing, training and enabling teams to solve complex problems using technology. Over the last six years, Val has overseen the digital core technology for the $5.1B Design-Built LaGuardia Terminal B Redevelopment, the largest PPP project in NYC history. The new Terminal B will encompass more than 1.3 million square feet of new facilities, with 35 brand-new gates, 8 miles of new road and 18 new road bridges. Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, Val drew early inspiration for the built environment from his family who are also engineers, architects and builders. In fact, one of his earliest memories is helping his grandfather build their home. During his Master of Architecture studies in Wentworth Institute of Technology, Val became deeply interested in the craft of designing and creating using technology. During his 12 years in the AEC, he has worked on a diversified portfolio of construction projects and supported clients including PANYNJ, MTA, Harvard University, New York University Hospital, Alexandria and Autodesk with technology adoption.
