Tristan Schendel

With a background in Urban Design and Urban Studies, Tristan Schendel is a practicing Architect in New York City at Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects. As an active member on various civic and public Projects, Tristan brings expertise in architectural solutions to projects that demand resiliency, social equity and complex integration to their urban environments. As a co-founder of Agora Nordic Urbanism -while studying Urban Studies in Malmo, Sweden- he has gained valuable insights in the complex socio-economic, urban ecological and governmental processes that shape architectural and urban questions. An Associate Adjunct at Columbia, Tristan spearheaded the annual Design-Build ‘Outside-In’ class, led by Professors Laurie Hawkinson and Galia Solomonoff, in which students are tasked with designing and building an inflatable pavilion on Columbia’s campus.
