Salvatore Cali Jr.
Sal serves as the Deputy Commissioner for the NYC Department of Design and Construction’s (DDC) Public Buildings Division, overseeing a $6 billion capital design and construction portfolio that supports over 20 NYC sponsor agencies.
With a career rooted in the design and construction industry, Sal began as a laborer and carpenter while earning his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, gaining invaluable hands-on construction experience. After graduating, he managed capital construction projects for the NYC Department of General Services, the School Construction Authority, and a private contractor.
Since joining DDC in 2001, Sal has expanded his expertise managing both design consultants and construction projects. He has successfully delivered numerous high-priority prjects for the agency, including the stadiums, health centers, police stations, libraries, and several emergency projects including temporary COVID-19 hospitals, testing sites, and vaccination centers during the pandemic.
