Richard has built a national and international career based upon a desire to advance the development of cities through urban intensification, master planning, sustainable design and the adaptive reuse of key buildings.
Richard, a licensed architect in the State of New York, has worked on projects in countries around the world, including Canada, USA, UAE, Europe, China and India. He brings his expertise in creative workplace projects, high-rise, and mixed-use projects to BDP, leading teams responsible for design at multiple scales from 60_80 Atlantic, an innovative Class A mass timber office building; DUKE Condos, a contextually sensitive urban mid-rise; 100 Broadview Avenue, an accessible trailblazer of commercial building repositioning; sustainable vertical communities such as the sixty-storey brick-clad CG Tower and large-scale transit-oriented communities like the Eastgate Shopping Center intensification.
Richard is actively engaged in the development and design industry, currently acting as the Chair of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, a past member of the Advisory Board of the Urban Land Institute and currently a member of the Reuse and Redevelopment Product Council. As a design advocate, he is currently a member of several Design Review Panels. He is a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and has previously held the role of Chair of the TSA.
