Peter Bafitis
A fierce advocate for housing fairness, Peter Bafitis has elevated his firm as a champion of neighborhood sustainability, both advancing practice and bolstering social equity through design innovation, collaborative dialogue, and community responsive solutions.
Operating from a deeply held belief that the vitality of neighborhoods is the bulwark of a thriving city, Peter Bafitis has elevated his firm through technical rigor, mentorship, and a mission of Ethical Practice to contribute a body of creative design solutions aimed at reinvigorating the places that people call home.
An AIA housing committee leader for over a decade, Peter has shaped his firm’s focus and approach through dialogue with peers across the country and overseas. Resulting collaborations nurtured by Peter have informed a wide range of urban solutions and an extensive portfolio of subsidized, supportive, and middle-income housing, in addition to public schools, civic buildings, and commercial hubs. Peter advanced his practice by pivoting his firm towards not-for-profit housing clients and establishing productive collaborations with other noted firms. In addition, he increased RKTB’s engagement with the public agencies that address homelessness and the needs of low-income communities. Peter’s bully pulpit with the AIA has extended to his enthusiastic sharing of ideas in major design media and through international conferences and regional events.
