Mike Orman
Mike Orman is a Director at Rafael Viñoly Architects, where he spearheads the design and management of diverse projects. With experience spanning high-rise residential, office-to-residential conversions, hotel developments, art galleries, and historic preservation, Mike collaborates closely with the Partners and project teams to design and deliver innovative solutions across complex urban projects.
Among his projects is the transformation of a historic Upper East Side townhouse into a contemporary art gallery along Museum Mile. Working with Rafael Viñoly and the firm's Partners, the team successfully navigated the Landmarks Preservation Commission approval process and secured a City Planning Special Permit (ULURP) for a rooftop addition and change of use. The fast-track project required precise coordination with numerous consultants while maintaining sensitivity to the landmark district context.
Currently, Mike is leading two significant office-to-residential conversion projects in midtown Manhattan, bringing new relevance to obsolete commercial buildings. These projects demonstrate innovative approaches to reimagining existing structures within New York City's evolving urban landscape.
