Mahan Shirazi
Mahan Shirazi is the Deputy Director of Design Strategy at New York City Housing Preservation and Development, working across the agency with planning, finance, and program teams, as well as the development community and architects, to facilitate and improve the production of housing in the city. In his role, he has worked on HPD Design Guidelines for both New Construction and Preservation projects, aimed at helping architects navigate the complex world of regulations and policy.
Prior to HPD, Mahan had worked as designer on a variety of projects, from Passive House residential renovations (with Caliper Architecture) to cultural projects (with OLI Architecture) and larger masterplans (with Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura), and has been a juror at several academic institutions, including Columbia GSAPP and USC.
