L. Stephen Hill’s contributions to the New York City skyline have spanned over three decades, earning recognition locally, nationally, and globally. Hill co-founded Hill West Architects with the goal of providing clients a firm focused on unparalleled quality for highly functional buildings. Hill’s deep understanding of construction and high-rise typologies has resulted in thousands of thoughtfully crafted residential units across the five boroughs and beyond. Known for his clear, concise vision, Hill has also crafted other ground-up developments including hotels, retail spaces, commercial offices, and master plans. Additionally, Hill has led many historic renovations and adaptive re-use projects, including the historic conversion and renovation of The Plaza Hotel in New York City. His designs have gained international acclaim, including a finalist position at the 2023 World Architecture Festival for Olympia in Brooklyn, New York. Always on the cutting edge of architectural progress, Hill led the development of the firm’s first Passive House project, Gemma Gramercy, setting a new benchmark for sustainable high-rise buildings in New York City. Hill is a graduate of Pratt Institute. He is a licensed architect in several states including New York, New Jersey, and Virginia.
