Hugh D. Lester is a designer and planner with more than 25 years of experience pursuing sustainable architectural and engineering solutions, focused on the human side of secure environments. He has applied his expertise in physical and electronic security and operational integration to major correctional infrastructure projects in Los Angeles, Detroit, New York and nationwide. Committed to advancing justice architecture, Hugh’s award-winning work has driven improvements in wellness, rehabilitation and skill-building for those in custody. As a researcher and adjunct professor at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, he has supplemented his bachelor’s degrees in psychology and architecture and master’s degree in criminal justice with doctoral work in Sociotechnical Systems.
