Hank White, FASLA
As Founding Principal of HMWhite, a New York-based landscape architectural and urban design firm. For over three decades, Hank White has been pioneering landscapes rooted in integrating ecological intelligence, heritage, identity, and creating immersive, sensory-rich environments. A Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) since 2012, Hank’s awardwinning designs have earned over 35 national and international honors, shaping urban, civic, institutional, and private spaces through a science-based approach.
Notable projects include the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center, an ASLA Honor Award winner, and Radio Park at Rockefeller Center, a high-performance rooftop landscape. His collaborations with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, including the New York Times Building Lobby Garden, highlight his early commitments to biophilic and ecologically responsive urban spaces.
HMWhite’s diverse portfolio—spanning civic plazas, rooftop landscapes, and community spaces—demonstrates the transformative power of landscape design. Hank’s work has been widely published and recognized by the ASLA, AIA, Interior Magazine’s Best of Year, ULI, the European Centre for Architecture, and the NYC Public Design Commission.
