Friederike Burckhardt

Project Manager, MTA New York City Transit
Friederike M. B. Burckhardt is working as a project manager at MTA New York City Transit for almost seven years. She started by supervising the construction for the first ever built on-street charging stations in Manhattan at the M42 bus end stops to support the charging of MTA's first deployed All-Electric Buses (AEB) in 2017. Furthermore, Friederike played a significant role as a construction lead to deliver the first built permanent in-depot charging stations at Michael J. Quill depot in Manhattan. She is currently behind pushing New York State's Executive Order No.22: Leading By Example with the goal to fully transition MTA's non-emergency vehicle stock from light-duty diesel and gasoline vehicles to light-duty Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) by 2035. This target requires rigorous strategic planning inclusive of the selection of charging locations, design and construction of supply equipment, internal and external communication, research, the collection of knowledge for operations and maintenance and deployment overall. While being full-time employed at the MTA Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City, Friederike recently completed her Master's of Engineering degree at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art with a Summa Cum Laude and is open for a new opportunity!
