Erin Sharp-Newton

President, AIA Central NJ + Fellow, Centre for Urban Design and Mental Health

Erin Sharp-Newton is the President of AIA Central NJ,  a Fellow at the Centre for Urban Design and Mental Health, Co-Chair of AIA NJ Equity in Architecture, Healthcare Design Director, and a Behavioral Health Design Leader.  As an advocate for human concerns, including serving as Co-Chair for the Department of Health & Human Services Hunterdon County Local Advisory Committee on Drugs and Alcohol, and as the former Vice President on the Executive Board of an Outpatient Drug Awareness Program, she supports solutions from a grassroots to a global level. 

Erin holds a Master’s in Architecture from UCLA, and a Master’s in Design from Domus Academy in Milan, Italy.  Living and working between the US and Europe has provided a unique context for development and contributions, enabling her to offer vision, creative intelligence, and critical solutions to the design process. She is the Archinect author of Newton's Notes, recipient of the NJBiz 50 Best Women in Business Award, and has spoken on the subject of Architecture of Mental Health on panels for the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Center for Health Design (CHD), and other venues.  She is passionate about destigmatizing mental health needs and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in design.
