Charleen Chae is the Design Technology Lead for North America at Grimshaw Architects and has led the Design Technology teams in both the New York and Los Angeles studios since 2022. Her department specializes in solving complex design and workflow challenges using innovative technologies through BIM, Computational Design and Extended Reality. Though initially aspiring to build a career as an architect, she pivoted to specializing in BIM, driven by a deep interest in automation processes and data analysis. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and has since contributed to projects across multiple industries and program types, most recently at Snohetta, Wework and Tesla.
