Carlos Ortiz is an Executive Director, with the Department of Design and Construction, overseeing safety and quality operations within the Safety & Site Support Division.  He is responsible for the agency’s construction safety programs, including safety awareness, field inspections, safety plan reviews and compliance, construction accident investigations, and emergency response. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering, is a board-certified Construction Safey Professional (CSP), and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.  Mr. Ortiz has 30 years of construction safety, accident investigation, and regulatory compliance related experience in both the public and private sectors, which includes the natural gas and petroleum industries, urban infrastructure, and public buildings.
