Brian Gens
Brian Gens, LCSW, is a highly dedicated mental health professional and a passionate advocate for behavioral health and suicide prevention. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, he earned his Master of Social Work degree from Adelphi University and brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to his role as Senior Director of Training, Advocacy, and External Affairs at Greater Mental Health of New York.
Gens spearheads community education initiatives aimed at reducing the stigma surrounding behavioral health and fostering open, inclusive conversations about mental well-being. He is deeply committed to empowering individuals and communities by promoting awareness, understanding, and resources for mental health.
Beyond his work at Greater Mental Health of New York, Gens serves as the regional leader for Rockland and Westchester Counties with the Office of Mental Health’s Suicide Prevention Center of New York. In this capacity, he plays a pivotal role in implementing evidence-based strategies to address suicide prevention in schools. Additionally, he is an active member of both the Rockland County and Westchester County Suicide Prevention Coalitions, contributing his expertise to various initiatives, including the Veterans Sub-Committee in Westchester, where he champions efforts to support veterans' mental health.
Through his leadership, advocacy, and tireless commitment to education, Brian Gens continues to be a driving force in the fight to reduce stigma and improve access to mental health care across New York.
