As the Director of Environmental Design at SHoP Architects, Berardo leads the implementation of building technologies and best-practice for environmental design to achieve the highest sustainable goals. He works closely with the design teams and technical consultants to integrate performance metrics and enhance environmental responsibility and wellness. He is a registered engineer in Italy and holds a doctorate in Architectural Sciences from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Berardo has been involved in many SHoP projects, including the Uber Headquarters, Detroit Hudson’s Site, and the New Office Annex for the US Embassy in Thailand. Berardo is a recipient of the Europe 40 Under 40 2012 Design Award and a finalist for the Fast Company 2017 World Changing Ideas Award for his doctoral investigation on microclimatic diversity in buildings.
