State Qualified Allocation Plans Increasingly Incentivizing Net Zero
USGBC encourages states to add points to QAPs for net zero certifications.
For over two decades, LEED has guided and pushed projects to aim for higher performance—measured through a variety of metrics, such as energy and water usage, indoor air quality, waste generation, and more—than required by code.
Building on the success of LEED as a market transformation tool, USGBC responded to the increased impetus to achieve net zero goals by creating LEED Zero, a complement to LEED certification that verifies the achievement of various net zero goals—including for carbon, energy, water and waste.
Net zero buildings provide myriad benefits, such as dramatically reduced energy and water bills, improved resilience during natural disasters, and reduced local air pollutants and contaminants.
