Renew America’s Nonprofits Offers Grants to Increase Energy Efficiency
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently opened the first-ever funding opportunity for the Renew America’s Nonprofits program, an initiative created under the bipartisan infrastructure law that aims to help nonprofit organizations make energy efficiency improvements to their facilities. The program will provide grants of up to $200,000 for individual projects nationwide.
The DOE’s Office of State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP), which will oversee the funding process, noted in its announcement that more than 1.4 million nonprofits with more than 12.4 million employees are eligible for the program.
For many nonprofits, energy expenses are second, behind salaries, in creating operational costs. The program can help lower energy costs and achieve sustainability in nonprofit facilities.
