SEAoNY was founded in 1996 to advance the art of structural engineering in New York by improving the flow of ideas and building a community of colleagues. With over 500 members representing both large structural engineering firms and small practices, the association is the voice of the New York structural engineering profession. We sponsor educational events, participate in code review and development, provide networking opportunities, develop technical resources, and advocate for our profession.

The association engages with a large group of student members from local universities. We also reach out to other professionals who work in related fields with common interests. Currently, 5% of our members come from adjacent disciplines such as geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, and architecture.
