National Society of Black Engineers
The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. With over 30,000 members around the world, in schools, companies, and city chapters, we continue to be a cornerstone to sharpen like minds with shared cultural values, develop leaders within the community, and be a resource for companies to find incredible talent.
NSBE had its genesis at a national conference planned and hosted by the Society of Black Engineers at Purdue University in April 1975. From this meeting of concerned students and educators, NSBE was born. In 1976, NSBE became recognized as a non-profit organization and now has more than 790 chapters internationally. The NSBE New York City Professionals Chapter was formed in 1990 and has proudly supported area black technical professionals, engineers and students for 30 years.
