At CCNY, I co-founded and am acting President of the student group, Future Architects of the Middle East (FAME). The student group is aimed to shed light on non-Eurocentric modes of architectural thought and expression by means of celebrating past and present contributions of Southwest Asian and North African artists, activists, and architects. Not only have we sought to raise awareness throughout our student body through our educational lectures, cultural events, and publication, Mashrabiya, but we have also leveraged FAME to catalyze changes within our academic curriculum itself. Namely, we proposed and successfully changed CCNY's survey of architecture history to include more Middle Eastern and West Asian architectural representation.
