Francisco Pineda - Columbia University
Francisco is a strategy, operations, and turnaround executive with a passion for teaching and systems-level
learning. His experience includes leading acquisitions, scaling teams, re-positioning assets, and handling
restructuring processes. He currently serves as Faculty and Program Director for the M.S.
in Construction Administration at Columbia University and as Senior Strategy Advisor to Gleeds. As a service-
oriented leader he is committed to workforce development, advancing organizational effectiveness, critical
capabilities, and the management of complex project-based teams and enterprises.
In his twenty-year career, he has been involved in all aspects of the development and construction cycle –
ranging from energy deals during his time at BNP Paribas and Hess to real estate investment banking and
private equity with Merrill Lynch. He led one of the Middle East’s largest restructurings ($1.6bn) working
alongside Moelis & Co and Shearman Sterling and has turned around property development companies
and construction projects, as well as businesses in hospitality, building materials, and food & beverage.
He holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School, an MPA in Advanced Policy and Economic
Analysis from Columbia University and a BA in History and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered
Surveyors (RICS). He is currently pursuing his doctoral research interests in Urban Systems at NYU’s Tandon
School of Engineering and has had past affiliations with the University of Cambridge Laing O’Rourke Center at
the Department of Engineering. Lastly, he serves as an US Navy (Reserves) supply and logistics officer and in
2018 was selected as a Presidential Leadership Scholar by the Clinton-GW Bush-HW Bush-LBJ Foundations.
