With over 25 years in leadership at Turner Construction, Stephanie V. Burns was recently promoted to National Vice President, Director of WorkForce Development and Engagement. For over 17 years she was Vice President of Community Affairs where she was the lead Manager that led the MWBE Program for the New York State Region. Under her leadership Turner was able to successfully achieve 20% Minority/Women Business Enterprise performances on its projects. Stephanie’s support of the innovative programming with outreach to expand opportunities and the necessary tools to remain competitive to the MWBE community and small business. In Stephanie’s most recent role she is responsible for strategic planning and execution of building inclusive community workforce initiatives. Understanding the current critical need for our industry to reflect Workforce Inclusion, Diversity and Development. “It is only thru partnerships where industry impacts happen”. August 2021, Ms. Burns graduated a successful class of 31 candidates in partnership with Lincoln Center. Stephanie learned first-hand the disparity in education growing up. Her laser focus on education of STEAM led her to drive the company initiatives by expanding beyond the field and into the classroom. With such programs as YouthForce Educational K-12 program, Young Women on the Horizon, Adopt-A-School, and YF Scholarship fund. She was a driving force in the creation of the Eagle Academy for Young Men, mentoring and Internship program and the Turner+Pratt Collaborative. Burns is a trailblazer known throughout the industry for her passion and commitment. Currently, Stephanie is the President of Women Builders Council, Chair of BTEA MWBE Council, Board Member of the Bedford Stuyvesant YMCA, Chair of Sustainability & Construction for CTE Schools (DOE).
