Bharat Gami, Chief Plan Examiner, Manhattan Plan Examination Unit
As Chief Plan Examiner of NYC Department of Buildings’ Manhattan Borough office, Bharat Gami, RA, leads the plan review process for projects ranging from major high rise structures to minor alteration projects. The Borough of Manhattan in NYC generates over $20 billion of construction activity annually.
Prior to becoming Chief Plan Examiner, Bharat served as the Director of NYC HUB Self Service Unit, where he was responsible for leading the digital plan review and permitting process for professionally certified applications. Prior to joining NYC Department of Buildings in 2007, Bharat practiced as an architect for fifteen years. His built projects have received awards for design excellence, smart growth and innovations in construction, and have been published in professional magazines such as Environmental Design and Construction, Design Cost Data, and Remodeling News. His educational background includes Master’s degrees in architecture from MIT and Business Management from CUNY.
