Kai Sheng, CEO
Kai Sheng, CEO and Managing Principal of Archilier Architecture, has over 25 years of architectural design experience in hospitality and high end office/residential mixed use development. He has extensive experience with some of the leading brands in the hotel industry – including St Regis, Peninsula, Pullman, Hilton and Marriott. He also has expertise in designing lifestyle boutique hotels – at times, helping clients to create new brands, such as the award-winning luxury brand WEI Retreat in south China, a 90,000 sq. ft. luxury boutique.
He currently leads Archilier’s design team in the design of a 1.3 million square ft. mixed use complex with three hotel brands including Le Meridian and Kimpton in Garden Grove, CA. His Archilier team has also been engaged in other hospitality mixed use projects in locations around the globe, such as the St. Regis Haitian Center in Qingdao, a 5 million sq. ft. urban mixed use development. As a former partner with BBG Architects, Mr. Sheng directed numerous critical projects in the US as well as in China, including the Mandarin Oriental in New York, the Peninsula Shanghai, and the St Regis resort in Sanya. Beyond hospitality and high end office/residential mixed use projects, his Archilier team also pursues major urban projects. The Archilier design entry was among the 5 finalists in the 2016 international design competition for the replacement of Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC and awarded first place in the 2012 Cleveland “Transforming the Bridge” International Urban Design Competition.
